Human Traces
"Human Traces" is a site-specific project created in 2022, in the Omnia Hall, consisting in two audio-video installations presented in the collective exhibition "Omission Possible". Their starting point is an inventory of the reminiscences left by human interventions in a space that’s stuck in a bureaucratic limbo. Designed in 1967 as an annex to the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Romanian Communist Party, the building and its current condition open delicate discussions concerning its present purpose and the repeated promises of renovation. "Human Traces" punctuates this state of transition, in which the traces carried by the architecture of the place act as indicators of its detachment from the oppressive past, but also the inability to be reintegrated with its current purpose. The use of photographic negatives facilitates an abstraction of human traces, serving in certain instances as topographical elements of a cultural center in the making.
